Add Texture for Extra Winter Warmth

When temperatures start to decline, we naturally seek out extra warmth. Thankfully, your home’s interior can feel extra toasty simply by adding some texture. Here we’ll talk about three main ways you can bring in some textures that not only heighten the visual interest but also increase the level of warmth in your home.

Fabric is probably one of the easiest ways to increase the textural interest within a space. When it comes to warming up the interior during the cold season, here are our favorite fabric choices that get the job done:

• Velvet. Contrary to popular belief is extremely versatile, meaning it can be used anywhere. Don’t banish it to formal places pair this fabric with others in more casual spaces, sit back, and enjoy.
• Cable-knits. Cable-knit fabrics look good while providing gentle warmth and comfort.
• Wool and cashmere. These two fabrics come from the same family, which means you can’t go wrong with either choice. Both are well-designed to ward off those frigid temperatures. Wool is excellent for blankets and rugs while cashmere is ideal for decorative throws.
• Sheepskin, furs and faux furs. All three of these are wonderful choices, especially for rugs. Just think about how toasty your feet would feel with a soft rug made of one of these textiles. A big perk about faux furs is that they seem just as nice, without costing a fortune.

Patterns are another way to warm up your space. Patterns such as plaid, checks and houndstooth have a cozy look to them, especially when they’re made out of fabric like wool.
