8 Halloween Decorating Projects for Your Home, Part II

 In part 1, we looked at four of our eight Halloween decorating projects in detail. Here are the remaining 4 projects that are easy enough to tackle before the holiday arrives.

5) Creative Candy Containers

With Halloween, comes candy, so it’s only fitting to think about creative ways to display or store it. One idea is to take a glass jar and affix a sequined mask to it. You can amp up the spookiness by giving the mask eyes with flat green marbles. Another idea would be to make candy pouches in Halloween shapes. Take some craft or postal paper and cut out shapes such as bats, pumpkins, ghosts and cats. Stitch up the sides, but leave enough room to stuff the candy inside. Once full, finish stitching them up and add things like googly eyes, mouths or any other details to make them complete.

6) Creepy Candle Holders

What better way to set the Halloween mood than by having flickering lights around? Think of a holiday message (i.e. trick or treat, Happy Halloween, boo, etc) and buy a glass pillar candleholder for each letter. The message can be created in a few different ways: 1) by wrapping the outside of the glass with colored tissue paper and then adhering vinyl letters, 2) by downloading a free letter template, which will allow you to design and print letters to wrap around the pillar, or 3) by stenciling or etching the letters directly onto the glass. Light the candles and watch them flicker.

7) Spooky Sweets

Love to bake? If so, this one is for you! Bake or buy some sugar cookies and decorate them with black, white and orange icing. But you don’t have to stop there. You can draw things like spooky eyes, spider webs, dots, spiders, ghosts, headstones, or whatever else strikes your fancy, on top. Another option would be to make cupcakes or even the increasingly popular cake pops. Both of which, can be decorated anyway you choose.

8) Wrap it Up

Head to your local fabric store to find some Halloween inspired ribbon and then wrap it around things like chair backs, lamp bases, candlesticks, pumpkin stems, or whatever else you feel needs a little dress-me-up. Tie some bows wherever you can for some added punch.
