While Fashion Week may have looked a little different this year, it doesn’t mean that color wasn’t an integral part of it. Quite the opposite in fact. As expected, Pantone delivered their predictions of 10 standout colors, as well as 5 beautiful core classics that were expected to be seen in New York as fashion designers introduced their new spring/summer collections.

So what does Fashion Week have to do with interior decorating? Quite a bit actually. Those colors that shine on the runway can add some really incredible style to your home! For those that loved what they saw during in NYC, and find they just can’t seem to get enough,  finding ways to incorporate your new favorites into your everyday spaces is the natural next step.

Colors That Inspire Ingenuity and Inventiveness

This year, Pantone announced that two hues will share the title of Color of the Year: the ever-vibrant Illuminating and the quiet, reliable Ultimate Gray— both of which complement the rest of the seasonal palette beautifully. The remainder of the palette, is incredibly versatile, being described as colors that “transcend the seasons and allow for more freedom of choice – colors that lend themselves to original color statements and whose flexibility easily adapts to our new and more fragmented lifestyle.”

Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute went on to say, “Offering a range of shades illustrative of nature, colors for Spring/Summer 2021 underscores our desire for flexible color that works year-round. Infused with a genuine authenticity that continues to be increasingly important, colors for Spring/Summer 2021 combine a level of comfort and relaxation with sparks of energy that encourage and uplift our moods.”

Using the Palette in Your Home

Sometimes, when a color palette like this emerges, you just love it so much you have to do more than wear it. This is a perfect year to add some into your interior space. Do you go with the bright colors? The more subdued ones? Both? It’s up to you!

If you love the idea of color, but not in large quantities, start small with accessories. Throws, accent pillows, vases, table lamps, rugs, and even floral arrangements are just some of the ways you can add vibrancy to your home without going overboard. If you have no fear, go for something bigger such as an accent wall, an upholstered chair, or a painted piece of furniture.

Whether you choose to use these colors in a big or small way, any use is sure to liven up your space and give a nod to the upcoming seasons. When the time comes to incorporate some fresh hues, be sure to stop by one of our showrooms to see what fabrics and accessories we have that can add pops of this palette to your home.
