Thanksgiving is on its way. Is your house ready for the holiday? While you may already have fall-themed items around the house, it’s always nice to add some items specific to the holiday. Here are some ways that you can add those touches around the home that will serve as a reminder for all you’re thankful for.
Add a Wreath to Your Door
A front door just looks better when there’s a welcoming wreath hanging on it. Instead of just hanging a leaf full of leaves or fall colors, find or make something that connects directly with the holiday. Fill it with pumpkins, fruit or flowers, to represent the abundance food and beauty we have. A simple turkey added to the front is another nice way to show your holiday spirit. Create Something With Fabric
There are so many things that can be bought at the store but it’s so nice when you can make something a bit more personal. There is a wide array of fabric out there so try creating something yourself. Items such as tablecloths, placemats, runners and accent pillows are all things that can be made relatively easily. Some even, without picking up a needle and thread. It all depends on how simple or extravagant you want to go. All it takes is a trip to your local fabric and crafting stores.
Say you want to make some placements. You might find fabric that has a Thanksgiving theme already on it. If not, you could find some lovely pattern full of fall colors and add your own personalized trim. Some Thanksgiving-themed ribbon can easily be glued along the edges or you could add something solid, which will allow you to hand paint something like a favorite scripture about giving thanks or being thankful. By creating something yourself, you’re able to get something special that can be used in years to come.
Change Out Your Home’s Accents
There are many places you can put accents in your home. The walls, mantle, shelves, tabletops, and more, are all great areas to display something nice. One idea would be new accent pillows on the couch. Another would be wall art displaying leaves, turkeys, scriptures, or a saying about thanks. You could also make a banner for the mantle or add a small chalkboard, complete with a special saying, nestled in fall garland. These are just some of the many ideas out there that can be used to accent your house for the holiday.
